In September 2019 I didn’t receive a period.
I took a numerous amount of pregnancy tests which all come up negative. This ended up making me worried that it could be something really serious.
I went for a blood test recommended by my GP and everything came back fine. I defiantly was not pregnant also. So what was wrong with me?
I ended up going for a scan in November and received my results in December. Turned out I had polycystic ovaries and some fluid in the womb which meant I needed another scan.
This worried me as it could be serious.
So receiving this news I made a drastic change to my diet and exercise routine. I became a strict vegetarian and began to exercise at the gym a lot more.
My GP referred me to a gynaecologist at Queen Marys hospital which I would go and see in regards to my other scan.
Late December I bled very very lightly for only 2 days. I thought “that’s strange”. So I called my mum panicking thinking the worst. But being the amazing Mum she is, she calmed me down and said to just wait for my next scan that was happening in January.
January comes and what happens. I get a period!! WOOHOO. My first one for like 3 month. It lasted 7 days, heavy to normal to light bleeding. It was a regular cycle. YES!
The end of January I did my sound healing course and met so many inspiring strong women. It was a 2 day course on Saturday and Sunday, and guess what was happening on the Monday? Yep my scan was happening. I was intrigued to see my new results.
My awesome Dad took me to the gynaecologist for my scan and I’m so grateful for him driving me up there.
The lovely lady who was doing my scan at the time told me to look at the screen. It looked so weird I didn’t know what I was looking at. She said “You don’t have any fluid in your womb. You’r right ovary is in ovulation and you left ovary defiantly has polycystic ovary syndrome, but from the looks of it you are healing yourself”.
Wow I couldn’t believe my ears. I literally pulled up my pants and gave the woman a BIG HUG! Thanking her for being awesome! I ran to my Dad to tell him the good news and we went home to tell my Mum. What a great day that was.
I’ve also had 5 more regular periods since! WOO!
My gynaecologist said the main thing with polycystic ovaries is to do with weight gain.
So ladies. Get exercising and eating healthy.
I started to eat a lot more berries (blue berries and raspberries mainly), seeds and nuts. I also was drinking a herbal green tea that my awesome friend and PT Andreia (Hi Andreia! And thank you girl!) told me to drink, which was Dried Marjoram Tea! I always drink it a few days before I’m coming on (which is around the time of the full moon).
